When I was diagnosed with breast cancer 8 months ago, the surgeon took me off hormones and put me on Effexor since it works to stop hot flashes. When my RX ran out last week, I called the dr and through a miscommunication, she said to stop the Effexor (thinking my gyn dr would monitor me). Anyway, within two days I was suffering dizzy spells, goofy sounds in my head (sounds like a ceiling fan going around), alternating between extreme hot spells and sweating and then to uncontrolled chills and shaking. Got back with the dr and she put me back on the Effexor today and will wean me off it gradually in a few weeks. I wasn’t aware of the withdrawal symptoms until I experienced them and started doing internet research. They (whoever “they”” are) really should explain this better beforehand. I hope gradula withdrawal will work.
