My Father died in 1993 of emphasema, iy was painfule fo me to watch him die, for the last 18 months of his life I was not there by his choice. The only time we made peace was the day he passed away. In 1997 I was diagnosed whith the onset of emphasema, it was then I read up further on it and found that it can be hereditary. I gave up smoking Feb 2000 eventualy and have had some improvement. The sad part is that diagnosis is not made usually until it is too late. I was “lucky””, I went to my Dr, as i was suffering shortness of breath, and at times felt like I was going to suffocate. I try not to preach to people but having seen my father go from a healthy man (he never had a sick day off work in his life) to his death at the age of 64, then to be diagnosed with the same thing, I try to help people stop smoking, which is the greatest cause. Emphasema is no way for humans to suffer.
