I am 14 years old and I have a ganglian cyst on my inner-wrist which I got from playing tennis so much. I also have one on my other wrist on the top of the joint. I have consulted many doctors about surgery and other possible treatments because the cyst causes me much pain when I play tennis. If the cyst doesn’t bother your grandson too much, don’t worry about it, it’s not harming him in any way unless it prevents him from doing certain activities which are necessary in his life. Popping the cyst by putting a large amount of pressure on it is also an option. I did this to mine accidentally a few weeks ago. But popping the cyst unfortunately doesn’t get rid of the cyst wall that forms around the tendon, which makes it extremely prone to filling back up again with fluid and becoming another cyst. Sometimes wearing a wrist brace and immobilizing it can also help. Mine has started to calcify and there is a good chance that ultrasound will clear it up, so there is also a chance that that could occur as well. So basically if it bothers your grandson to a large extent, look into popping the cyst, or even draining it(that is also a possibility for removing the cyst that the doctor can do with just a needle). I hope your grandson’s situation improves, cysts can be very annoying and at times very painful.
