Something a little different. I went to an RD (registered dietician), who has taken her education to the Master’s level at NYU. She’s studied with Jeffrey Bland, Andrew Stoll, all the researchers who are scientific and accepted in both alternative and conventional med, and the RDhas also studied herbs, has a background in Chinese Medicine and some Ayurveda. She is licensed in my state. My RD prescribes diet, supplements, herbs, exercise, all the same healthy lifestyle components an ND would recommend. She works with NDs and MDs as she cannot Rx meds or order lab tests, just like NDs can’t in my state. Whereas the ND I went to tried treating mind-body-spirit and nearly killed me, she was able to see immediately all the things he missed – like inability to digest and metabolize fat – an assessment gleaned from both symptoms, physical assessment AND family history of gallbladder disease and alcoholism.
